So, this is Maddie- does she look like a baby doll or what?! She has such an innocent look, so I love taking her portraits...looks like she should be on a Baby Gap ad or something! This was Maddie's one year portrait and like many portraits this spring, the session had to be rescheduled several times due to weather so by the time this sitting actually took place, Maddie was really a bit over one. Outdoor portraits with a child this age can be difficult because the best lighting actually occurs close to 7:00 p.m. I start these sittings around 5:45 even though the light is not ideal in most places because a happy baby is more important than perfect lighting. But I always hope the baby will hang in there long enough to get some magical lighting along with the magical expressions. Maddie's session started out great...she was happy and overall pretty content with us. We got some great portraits. Unfortunately though as the magic lighting started to arrive Maddie decided she had had enough of us! We had her on a little bench and the lighting was beautiful but no matter what we tried, Maddie was NOT happy. Enter Random Strangers! Like angels that suddenly appeared a couple approached us and explained that they had little ones at home this age and asked if they could help amuse Maddie. Oh my gracious, it worked! Maddie was OVER my crazy tricks and not amused despite her mom's persistent attempts. But THIS was a new face...actually TWO new faces and there it was, that smile! That grin! That interest in her eyes again! So we got it, magical light, magical expression all thanks to the magical strangers! Thank you Random Strangers!!! I will certainly pay it forward!!!
